Portfolio Underwriting Manager, Casualty, 12 month Fixed Term Contract
    London
    Dependent on Experience

A fixed term contract opportunity requiring an immediate start, for a communicative and professional individual who can slot into a portfolio underwriting role in a market-leading London market casualty team. This key role will include portfolio oversight, setting of strategy and business planning focussed on retention and continued growth of the business area, across both the Lloyd’s and company market platforms. Much of this role will centre around holding the division accountable to the plan and analysing market trends.

Leadership and communication qualities will be important, as you will be responsible for advising underwriters and assisting with broker development. In terms of other stakeholders in the business, this will be broad – actuarial, finance, wordings, marketing as this is a very central role.

Although this position sits within a casualty team, casualty experience isn’t necessarily a pre-requisite. Portfolio management skills are much more front and centre.

One of the leading firms in Bristol, also active in London, operating one of the industry’s most highly rated pensions groups, is continuing to expand on the back of increased workloads and new client wins. They have created two new openings for Pensions Solicitors (either in Bristol or London), one at 1-3 years PQE and the other at 8 years+ and would welcome applications from Pensions Lawyers who are considering new opportunities. A broad mix of advisory (principally), transactional, litigation and de-risking work is available for the right candidate. Please apply in strict confidence.

Senior Property Underwriter – Corporate & Large Mid-Market Property
Birmingham (Hybrid – 2 days a week in office)
    Salary – Circa 60k + up to 15% bonus

Imagine stepping into a senior underwriting role where you’re trusted to make the call — no endless chains of approval, no waiting on sign-off. Just you, your market insight, your broker relationships, and the space to do what you do best: write smart, profitable property business. That’s what’s on offer here.

    The Role:

This isn’t a desk-bound role. It’s for someone who enjoys being out in market, engaging brokers, and bringing in new business and handling renewals. The property line is the biggest in the UK portfolio and the growth ambition is clear. The team also recently signed onto a major market facility, opening the door to new pipelines and larger, more complex risks.

You’ll be underwriting UK and multinational property accounts, including large mid-market and corporate clients. Average cases are in the £4–5m premium range, so you’ll be dealing with substantial, high-value businesses.

And the best part? You’ll have genuine autonomy, a clear framework and the empowerment to make decisions.

    The Team:

You’ll be joining a team of experienced underwriters who genuinely know their stuff, both in property and casualty. They’re backed by market-facing colleagues and a supportive business development lead, making it a tight-knit, well-connected unit.

Who this role is perfect for:

You’re a confident underwriter with a strong grounding in property, ideally with experience handling large mid-market or corporate clients. You enjoy the buzz of broker engagement, thinking commercially, and having the autonomy to move quickly without constant red tape.
    If you’ve handled multinational risks, that’s a bonus – but it’s not a dealbreaker.

    What’s in it for you:

In return, you will receive a competitive salary, a potential bonus and a competitive benefits package. You will also be supported in your insurance exams if you wish to take them. The position will be based at their central Birmingham office which will offer hybrid working.
