    Operational Excellence Lead – Underwriting Transformation

    Location:
    London, 3 days per week on site
    Salary: Up to £88,000 DOE
    Type: Permanent

    Im currently partnering with a leading Lloyd’s market organisation, who are looking for an Operational Excellence Lead to drive transformation, efficiency and innovation across its Underwriting teams.

    This is a broad and highly visible role sitting at the intersection of Underwriting, Technology, Change and Operations, with responsibility for improving processes, systems and workflows while supporting wider digital transformation initiatives.

    You’ll work closely with Underwriters, Technology, Change and senior stakeholders to modernise the underwriting journey, improve efficiency and help deliver increasingly automated and data-driven ways of working.

    The Role:

    • Lead key projects and workstreams across Underwriting Transformation and digital/data-first programmes.
    • Review and optimise end-to-end underwriting processes, systems and workflows.
    • Work closely with Technology teams to improve and evolve underwriting systems and capabilities.
    • Drive continuous improvement, automation and scalability across underwriting operations.
    • Contribute to the development and evolution of Underwriting Target Operating Models (TOMs).
    • Identify emerging technology, products and services that could improve underwriting processes.
    • Manage relationships with external technology and service providers, influencing product development and future roadmaps.
    • Work alongside Business Change teams to deliver projects in line with established change frameworks.
    • Produce business cases, process maps, project documentation and strategic recommendations.
    • Present ideas, progress and recommendations to senior stakeholders and internal committees.
    • Manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously, ensuring delivery against strategic priorities.

    What We’re Looking For
    We’re particularly interested in individuals who have a strong understanding of the Lloyd’s insurance market and underwriting environment, combined with experience delivering transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.

    You’ll ideally have:

    • 5+ years’ experience within the Lloyd’s market.
    • Strong knowledge of underwriting processes and the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle.
    • Experience managing or delivering underwriting-related projects or transformation initiatives.
    • A background in Operational Excellence, Underwriting Transformation, Business Change, Business Analysis or Process Improvement.
    • Strong understanding of how technology can improve underwriting processes and workflows.
    • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.
    • Experience working with third-party technology/product providers.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience producing process maps, business cases and project documentation.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Visio.
