Lead / Senior Software Engineer – Insurance
Hybrid Working – City of London
A growing specialist insurance underwriter focused on complex property and catastrophe-driven risks is bringing its technology capability in-house. This is a rare opportunity to join as the first in-house Software Engineer, with real ownership and a clear pathway into future technical leadership.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in modernising core systems, including rebuilding pricing engines and algorithms, while advising senior stakeholders and shaping long-term technical direction.
What You’ll Do
• Rebuild and enhance pricing systems and algorithms
• Design and develop full-stack solutions
• Contribute to system design and solution architecture
• Build and integrate APIs in a microservices environment
• Partner closely with senior stakeholders
• Collaborate with international teams
Skills & Experience
• Strong full-stack engineering background
• Experience with C#, Python and SQL (R beneficial)
• Exposure to microservices and API-led architectures
• Good system design capability
• Insurance or reinsurance experience is a must

• Comfortable being the first engineer in a growing business
• Confident communicator with senior stakeholders
• Interested in progressing into broader technical leadership over time
