A privately owned, multi-site organisation operating in the logistics sector is seeking an experienced Group Finance Director to join its senior leadership team. The business has doubled in size over the past five years, growing from c.£50m to £100m through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is a pivotal role with full accountability for the group’s finance function and a strong mandate to support continued expansion and value creation.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving robust financial governance, supporting growth initiatives and ensuring the business has the financial insight, controls and cash discipline required to operate at pace in an entrepreneurial environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of group finance operations across multiple sites
- Budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning frameworks aligned to growth objectives
- Production of timely and accurate consolidated statutory and management accounts, including leading the audit process
- Oversight of group-wide cashflow, liquidity management and funding arrangements to support ongoing capital investment.
- Development and ownership of capital investment approval processes to ensure disciplined returns
- Building, leading and developing a high-performing finance team
- Acting as a true business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, supporting strategic and commercial decision-making
Candidate profile:
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within a growing, multi-entity organisation
- Likely to have gained experience in an entrepreneurial, owner-managed or fast-growth business
- Strong cashflow management experience, with the ability to balance growth investment and financial control
- Track record in budgeting, statutory reporting, audit and financial governance
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth, privately owned business in a senior leadership role with significant influence over future strategy and expansion.
