Location: Manchester (hybrid working)
Salary: Competitive base salary + Bonus + Benefits
IPS Group is working with a leading insurer to recruit a Development Underwriter to support growth across the Manchester mid-market and corporate space. This is a highly market-facing, relationship-led role. The focus is on building visibility in the region, developing strong broker partnerships, and positioning the business as a go-to market for larger and more complex cases. They are ideally looking for someone who already has an established broker network and is comfortable being out in the market.
This is a development-focused underwriting role, with a strong emphasis on new business generation and pipeline growth. You’ll proactively source opportunities, lead conversations on larger cases, and work closely with trading teams to structure competitive and differentiated solutions. You’ll be working across mid-market through to mid-corporate risks, typically ranging from around £100k GWP into the millions. The portfolio is broad across Property & Casualty, offering exposure to a wide range of industries and risk types rather than being limited to a specific niche.
The role offers a good level of autonomy and underwriting authority, combining technical decision-making with a commercial, trading mindset. You’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle of business, from opportunity generation through to placement and ongoing retention.
