Assistant Management Accountant

The Role
Reporting into the Finance Director, the Management Accountant will play a central role within the finance team, overseeing management accounts, factory reporting, and variance analysis. The role goes beyond standard reporting, providing key support for budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and cash flow management. You will contribute to financial decision-making across the business while supporting and developing junior finance team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, factory reporting, and variance analysis
- Support and cover Accounts Assistant tasks, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit control
- Processing of weekly and monthly payroll
- Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of fixed asset register
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow processes
- KPI reporting and financial analysis to support business decisions
- Assist with year-end statutory accounts, R&D submissions, and ad hoc finance projects
Ideal Candidate
- The ideal candidate will be studying professional accountancy qualifications (ACCA OR CIMA) with proven experience as a Management Accountant or in a similar finance role.
- Strong Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work proactively to deadlines.
- Commercially minded, ambitious, and keen to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking finance team.
- Strong Excel and ERP skills
Package and benefits
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum plus study support (ACCA / CIMA)
