Location: Home-Based / UK Wide
IPS Group are working closely with a well known Insurer who have an opportunity to join them as a Life Science Development Underwriter. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Life Science Underwriter looking for a new challenge of for Commercial Combined Underwriter looking to diversify their experience into Life Sciences.
Life science underwriting offers one of the most attractive career paths in today’s insurance market. Covering sectors such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and digital health, it’s a market experiencing significant growth and increasing demand for specialist underwriting expertise. This is an opportunity to move into a fast-growing sector that offers greater technical depth, long-term career development and exposure to innovative businesses.
This is a purely new business-focused role, ideal for an underwriter who enjoys building broker relationships, developing new opportunities and spending time in the market. You would aim to carry out around 20 face-to-face broker meetings per month, you’ll play a key role in growing the Life Sciences portfolio by developing relationships with both existing and prospective broker partners across the UK.
You’ll underwrite and help convert new business opportunities across a range of Life Sciences risks, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical technology, digital health and clinical research businesses, while developing expertise across associated Financial Lines exposures. Working closely with brokers, you’ll identify opportunities, build trading momentum and help establish the business as a leading Life Sciences insurer.
We’re particularly interested in speaking with Commercial Combined or Property & Casualty underwriters who have strong new business and broker development experience and a desire to focus on life science.
