    We are currently partnering with a leading international specialty insurance organisation to recruit a BI Developer to join their growing Data & Analytics function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering modern data solutions within a highly collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

    The Role:
    As a BI Developer, you will support the Head of Data Analytics and Insights in delivering scalable, robust, and insightful data solutions across the business. You will work across the full data lifecycle—from requirements gathering through to delivery—helping transform raw data into meaningful business insight.

    This role is based in London or Manchester, with a hybrid working model (2–3 days in the office per week).
    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions including dashboards, reports, semantic data models, and data pipelines using tools such as Power BI and SQL
    • Build and maintain automated, scalable, and fault-tolerant data solutions in a modern cloud-based environment
    • Develop and enhance data models, ensuring high-quality semantic layers and reporting structures
    • Gather and document detailed business and data requirements, including source-to-target mappings and data lineage
    • Support data architecture design across systems and processes, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities
    • Deliver robust reporting and analytics solutions for key business areas including Pricing, Finance, Claims, Product, and Compliance
    • Translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels
    • Ensure ongoing data quality through monitoring, validation, and reconciliation proce
    • Collaborate closely with IT engineering teams and wider analytics communities to deliver best-in-class data solutions
    • Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, proactively testing and implementing new ideas

    Skills & Experience Required

    • Strong experience in BI development within agile, data-driven environments
    • Background in the insurance or financial services sector
    • Advanced SQL skills (joins, optimisation, data modelling)
    • Strong Power BI expertise, including DAX and semantic modelling
    • Experience working with Databricks (SQL and PySpark notebooks)
    • Understanding of cloud data platforms (ideally Azure, but AWS or GCP also considered)
    • Experience in data analysis, visualisation, and reporting automation
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work under pressure
    • Knowledge of data modelling principles and end-to-end BI delivery 

    Desirable Experience

    • Background in the insurance or financial services sector
    • Experience with cloud ecosystems such as Azure Synapse or similar
    • Python or similar programming experience
    • Exposure to Data Lake technologies (e.g. Databricks, Dataiku)
    • Experience documenting technical requirements and designing data tests
    • Progress toward or interest in professional insurance qualifications (e.g. CII)
