Payroll Assistant
Fantastic new opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join a growing, modern firm of Accountants based in Cleckheaton.
As a Payroll Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Assist in the end-to-end processing of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients
- Input, check, and reconcile payroll data including salaries, bonuses, overtime, and deductions
- Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
- Support the administration of workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment, employee assessments, and re-enrolment duties
- Process starters and leavers, including issuing P45s and ensuring accurate records
- Assist with year-end procedures, including P60s and P11Ds
- Liaise with HMRC regarding payroll queries and submissions (RTI – FPS/EPS)
To qualify or this Payroll Assistant position, ideally you will meet the following:
- Experience working as a Payroll Assistant in an accountancy firm.
- Familiarity with UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
- Experience with payroll software (Primo Payroll or similar)
- Understanding of auto-enrolment pension schemes
- Knowledge of P11Ds and benefits in kind

- Salary from £26,000 to £28,000
